Tuition and Fees

Pre-term Intensive Portuguese Course

Administrative cost - Regular term

With the objective of providing our students with a variety of enriching activities during their stay in Rio de Janeiro, administrative cost will be charged to all international students.

Exchange students:
The administrative cost will be charged prior to arrival.

One Semester attendance: Price: R$ 1.170,00 Reais
One Year Attendance: R$ 1.760,00 Reais

Independent students:
The administrative cost will be charged prior to arrival.

2026-2
One Semester attendance: Price: R$ 2.100,00 Reais

Period extension fee

Exchange students:

An extension fee will be charged if students decide to study at PUC-Rio the following semester. Exchange students are entitled to attend courses at PUC-Rio up to two regular terms plus the Pre-Term Portuguese as a Second Language Intensive

Prices for
2026-1 semestre: R$ 549,00
2026-2 semestre: R$ 590,00

Independent students:

An extension fee will be charged if students decide to study at PUC-Rio the following semester.

Prices for:
2026-1 semester: R$ 1.017,00
2026-2 semester: R$ 1.090,00

The extension fee will not be refunded if students withdraw from their international program extension.

Important:

1. Please, send us a copy of the wire transfer done to the e-mails: Financial manager: manager@puc-rio.br with copy to incoming1@puc-rio.br
2. Refunds will be issued only up to one month prior to the course start date. In case of reimbursement: operational costs related to acceptance and cancelation processes and to bank transaction fees will be deducted from the total amount refunded.
3. The extension fee will not be refunded if students withdraw from their international program extension.

Attention:
Please be aware that, if PUC-Rio's Central Coordination for International Cooperation (CCCI) does not receive the total amount in Reais for the pre-term intensive course or registration fees, due to an exchange rate difference or bank transfer fees, the remaining balance must be paid upon your arrival at PUC-Rio.

Accommodation Program

The monthly rent for the semester of 2025-2 is currently R$2.500,00, including breakfast. If an option of lunch or dinner is available, the cost is R$2.875,00 per month. These prices will remain the same for the 2026-1.

Tuition

Exchange students:
Exchange students do not pay tuition fee.

Independent Student:
Independent Students pay tuition. The academic tuition will be charged according to the number of credits taken in each term.

Tuition Fee - Method of Payment:
The fees must be paid in Reais (R$) currency rate.

Example:

If the student registered online for 19-20 credits, he will pay for 19-20 credits. According to PUC's table of values, in 2025 International regular students must pay the total tuition of R$ 41.931,00 per term or R$ 6.988,50 per month over 6 months for 19-20 credits. In the case of an international student who arrives ON TIME for classes in late February/early March or August, the student will pay for 40 credits in the first and second monthly installments and for 19-20 credits in the third and fourth installments.

In case the student wants to cancel any class, the reimbursement will only appear in the next month's installment.

If the student adds more classes during the Drop & Add period the tuition amount will change too.

Ex: Before the Drop & Add the students had chosen 20 credits and during the Drop & Add added one class of (2 credits). His/her tuition will change from 20 credits to 22 credits; consequently, the difference of these 2 credits will appear in the others installments.

After the Drop & Add day, if the student cancel (drop) any class, the total of the tuition and the installments will not change.

Method of Payment:
The fees must be paid in Reais (R$), according to the dollar rate of the day.
